Program Description:
Cuba: Crisis and Resilience in Cuba

Credits: 4 Credits (SWK 3025) Fall Semester course with travel in Cuba*
Instructors: Lucy Lawrence (Professor of Social Work) and Jack Igelman (Instructor of Economics)

Travel Dates: Two weeks in January over winter break

*Travel is subject to change due to changes in the political climate

 

Students in this course reach across the international divide, returning to the United States with a changed perspective- not just of Cuba, but of themselves. Through the distinct and interconnected lenses of social justice and self expression, students examine myriad and interdependent social, environmental, political, economic, and cultural issues in Cuba, from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Students develop an intercultural understanding of resiliency and approaches to social justice.

Application Fee: $75.00
Course Fee: $2,500** + airfare (est. $600-$900)

**(Limited amounts of need-based financial aid available)

GPA Requirement: 2.5 minimum
