Program Description:

Northern Ireland: Queen's University Belfast

Queen's BelfastThrough Warren Wilson's affiliation with the Irish-American Scholars Program, qualified WWC students have the opportunity to spend a semester or year studying in Northern Ireland at the Queen's University Belfast. This is large and well-known University that offers many academic programs in a traditional British educational environment. The Queen's University Belfast is renowned for research in Irish Studies, politics, writing, literature, music and archaeology, among other specialties. For more information, visit the Queen's University website Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and be sophomore or junior level in order to apply for the Irish American Scholars program.

When available, the application deadline for the Irish American Scholars program is generally  December 1 for the following academic year, fall or spring semesters.  If selected and granted a placement at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) as an Irish-American Scholar, WWC students will then be asked to complete WWC's online application process for the relevant academic year or semester of placement.  For example, a student applying December 2014 may be placed in a slot for spring semester 2016, and the student will therefore be expected to complete WWC's online application process in the fall of 2015.  As with tuition exchange programs, students placed at QUB will pay their regular WWC tuition for the relevant semester, but will pay room, board and student fees at the host institution.

In addition to Warren Wilson academic tuition, students studying abroad on exchange programs should expect to pay an additional $1,500 - $5,500 for travel, housing, and meals. There is a $75 non-refundable application fee and an international program fee of $450.

Northern Ireland: University of Ulster
In this bilateral exchange partnership, Warren Wilson College students may spend a semester or year studying at one of University of Ulster's four campuses located in Magee, Coleraine, Belfast or Jordanstown.  Each campus is different in size and focus, rangning from relaxed, smaller communities on the coast to vibrant, urban setting. The University of Ulster has strong liberal arts offerings across most disciplines.  Well-known for natural and physical sciences, history and polictical science, art and design, literature, Irish language, archeology, social sciences, sports and education, and peace and conflict studies, students in any major are sure to find topics of interest.  Housing is on or near campus in dormitories or shared flats.
