Program Description:

Finland: Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences

Finland 1Warren Wilson College is pleased to offer students a unique opportunity to study in Finland through our partnership with Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mamk).  The university is located in a mid-sized town northeast of Helsinki, and it is settled in the beautiful lake district of Finland surrounded by spruce and birch forests that are characteristic of Scandinavia. Courses taught in English are available in a number of fields of study.  Internship opportunities may also be possible depending on the discipline.  It is preferable that students attend spring semester at Mamk as there typically are more courses available for exchange students during that term. This program is particularly suited to students majoring or interested in Social Sciences, Social Work, Education, Outdoor Leadership, or Business, but students of other majors, such as Sustainable Forestry and Environmental Studies may find elective options that will enhance their chosen field of study and expand their understanding of Finnish and Scandinavian culture.

In addition to Warren Wilson academic tuition, students studying abroad on exchange programs should expect to pay an additional $1,500 - $5,500 for travel, housing, and meals.  Students should also inquire about their eligibility to receive funding support from International Programs Office towards their travel and housing expenses on this program. Most student are eligible to receive between $500-$2,000. There is a $75 non-refundable application fee and an international program fee of $450.
